KARACHI - Six people were killed in various violent incidents here on Tuesday.
Gunmen riding a motorbike barged into a snooker club at Sector 5/D, Surjani Town and targeted an activist of MQM.
The assailants managed to flee while victim Zulfiqar Hyder sustained bullet wounds. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police said the victim was associated with the MQM and used to run his club in the area. Police handed the body over to the family after autopsy. 
In another incident of firing, gunmen sprayed bullets on a car and shot dead a food trader in Awami Colony police precincts. Police said the victim Muhammad Yaseen was going somewhere when gunmen targeted him at Singer Chowrangi. The assailants managed to flee while the victim was shifted to the JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead and handed the over body to the family after autopsy. Police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
In the jurisdictions of Saeedabad police station, gunmen shot dead a Sui gas contractor when he was going home at Sector 12, Baldia Town. Police said the victim Raja Younas was rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi. Police handed the body over to the family after autopsy. The reason behind the murder has yet to be ascertained.
Mobina Town police found a tortured body of woman from Lyari riverbed. Police said the woman was tortured and strangulated to death. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
In Mochko police precincts, a man axed his wife to death on honour killing. Police said Birbhal and his wife Nasiba, 18, were got married a couple of years ago. Her husband had some doubts over her character. He was handed over to the police.
PPP POLLS CANDIDATE KILLED
Unidentified armed men shot dead a Pakistan People’s Party candidate for Sindh Assembly from PS-106, police said. The victim Zohaib Husssain Khan, 35, was going when the assailants shot him multiple times near Essa Nagri graveyard within the jurisdiction of Aziz Bhatti police station.
DSP Nasir Lodhi said the victim was riding a motorcycle when unidentified armed men intercepted him and opened fire on him. The body of the victim was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy which was later handed over to his heirs. Lodhi further informed that the police recovered six empty shells of 9mm pistol from the crime scene, however, further investigation was underway.
PPP Karachi chapter General Secretary Najmi Alam condemned the killing of Hussain and demanded arrest of the culprits. “He was a young and active member of our party. He was associated with the party’s youth wing and was going towards Hassan Square on his bike when the attackers killed him,” said Alam.
Khan was resident of Federal B Area. Alam said: “It will be premature to say something about the motive behind the murder.”
