RAWALPINDI : Investigation has been started into the life threatening SMS received by five police officers linked to Benazir Bhutto assassination case, former Rawalpindi CPO Saud Aziz and a judge.

Ahrarul Hind has been used as the sender’s name in these SMS.

Sources said inspectors Kashif Riaz, Ilyas, Ejaz Shah and Azhar Shah had received SMS some days back carrying messages posing life threats to them. The police officers are associated with the investigation and recovery process in the murder case of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

The name of former CPO Rawalpindi, Saud Aziz and a judge are also mentioned in the SMS. 

Following the development, the law enforcing agencies have recommended beefed up security of these police officers and judge.

The preliminary investigations revealed that the SMS had been sent through a website providing free SMS service instead of any mobile phone. The security of the police officers has been stepped up.

When contacted, SSP Operation Rawalpindi, Mian Maqbool Ahmad said that investigation into the matter is underway.
