CHANGA MANGA - Scores of farmers on Tuesday blocked the Changa Manga-Pattoki Road, protesting against the Punjab government for acquiring from them 1,000 acres of land for a private power company.

According to details, the company would use 1,000 acres of land acquired from the farmers to build a power station for producing electricity with coal. Before this, the defence department had acquired 500 acres, but the farmers were not paid full price of their lands.

The protesting farmers demanded the government to pay them the current market price of their lands.

Chunian AC, Sheikh Khalid Saleem and Kasur DCO Syed Javaid Iqbal Bukhari held dialogues with the representatives of the protesting growers, ensuring them of resolving their grievances. The officials said that the farmers would be paid full market price of their lands acquired.
