MIRPUR - Without uttering a single word about the freedom of Held Kashmir on the soil of AJK, PTI Chairman Imran Khan Wednesday announced to make ‘Naya Azad Kashmir’ simultaneously with his party’s proposed broad-based programme of turning the country into a ‘Naya Pakistan’.
He was addressing an election rally here for his party’s candidate Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry who is contesting by-election in Mirpur city, LA-III, constituency, being held on March 29.
The rally was also addressed among others by Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, President AJK PTI and former prime minister, PTI chief organiser Zafar Anwar, former Punjab governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar, Senior Vice Chairman PTI and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Jehangir Tareen, Sardar Imtiaz, Ibrarul Haq, Sardar Jamil Sadiq and others.
Imran Khan said the local government elections in KP would be held after two months under the spirit to give powers to the representatives of the masses at grassroots level. He said the people of AJK would also be given similar powers at the grassroots level by PTI on its coming to power through the elections to the AJK Legislative Assembly next year.
Imran appealed to the masses to vote for Barrister Sultan in the by polls, adding he would be the first AJK legislative assembly member from the PTI by winning with a thumping majority.
Fully endorsing the action in Karachi to tight noose against the alleged presence of criminals in the ranks of MQM, Imran Khan said it was a great justice to the innocent population of the port city who had been held hostage mentally through the reign of terror by the MQM, he observed. He added the people of Karachi were being whisked forcibly to listen to the telephonic address of the London-based MQM supremo.
The PTI Chairman called for waging jehad to rid the country of the alleged corruption, malpractices and irregularities from different parts of the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He asserted that on coming to power in AJK, PTI would give a neat and clean administration to all the people and empower them without any gender discrimination.
Imran Khan said he had broken the long Zardari-Nawaz partnership. “I am not going to break Zardari and Nawaz partnership. I have already done it,” he told a big public meeting. It was Imran Khan’s first major political event in Azad Kashmir after former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mehmood joined his party.
“You cannot disappoint us in the by-election. I congratulate Barrister Sahib right now. We will not let anyone to rig the election. Promise me today. The people of AJK and the entire Pakistan are watching TV that you will not vote for the people whose money and assets are kept abroad,” the PTI chief said.
“The Mirpur community abroad works hard, but these people loot your money and transfer it foreign banks. We are here to free you from these corrupt people,” he said.
Imran Khan claimed 2015 will be the year of elections and they would prove Nawaz Sharif was sitting in government through a stolen mandate. “It is your power that has made it possible to force the government to form a judicial commission to probe the vote fraud,” he said. He promised to introduce apolitical police, adding the Punjab and Sindh police act on whims of rulers.
He announced the local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be unprecedented and MNAs and MPAs would not get development funds, but local body representatives would receive them.
“We want to bring a local governance system on the pattern of European, Scandinavian countries where locals decide where money is to be spent,” he asserted.
He condemned the police action against farmers and their detention in Lahore. “I promise farming community that I stand by you,” he said.
Khan said he would build an airport in Mirpur and also decide whether to set up Namal University or Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in AJK.
The PTI chief announced he would hold his next public meeting in Karachi to defeat MQM leader Altaf Hussain. The PTI chief claimed people attend MQM rallies and listen to Altaf’s speech out of fear for their lives. He said Altaf Hussain’s days were numbered.
In a veiled reference to the arrest of model Ayaan Ali for money laundering, he said a woman was caught taking thousands of dollars from Pakistan; the country is becoming poorer and money launderers richer.
The PTI chief lauded the role of women and said, “If I am Imran Khan today, it is because of my mother who gave me strength and direction,” he remarked.
“I especially thank and request our women to go from house to house; we have full hope you will help us beat status quo,” he said.
He lashed out at the government action against a police officer, Islamabad SSP Nekokar, and said on coming to power, PTI would reinstate him and award him for not obeying illegal orders of the rulers.
“Criticising the PML-N and PPP governments, he said both the parties had politicised the police department, adding that his party would depoliticise Azad Kashmir police if it got a chance to form government here. “We will depoliticise police as we did in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the PTI chief said.
