After the election 2008, there was a feeling that democracy will take off and changes will be made to ensure better governance. But the new leadership is bogged down by the issue of restoration of judges. The indecision has resulted in a feeling of despair in the public at large. The general consensus is that the matter should now be resolved through a referendum. The matter is being influenced by powers from outside the country, which are out to harm our national interests. -MUHAMMAD AFZAL SADIQ, Attock, via e-mail, May 12.
