Billu Pehalwan is new Sher-i-Punjab

LAHORE - Billu Pahalwan downed Achi Pahalwan in a sensational bout and was declared the Sher-i-Punjab here at the Punjab Stadium Sunday. In front of the enthusiasts of the national style wrestling, Billu showed grit and strength to prevail over Achi Multania who was trained by Taj Pahalwan. The bout lasted for about half-and-hour and after several attempts from both the wrestlers, Billu, the pupil of Haji Afzal, proved to be more powerful. At the end of the bouts, provincial minister for youth affairs Dr Tanveerul Islam gave away the prizes to the winning wrestlers. Secretary sports Munawwar Abbas, director sports Brig Farooq Yaqoob, and managing director Khawar Shah were also present on the occasion. Other than the main Sher-i-Punjab dangal, 16 more bout were on the cards and eight were possible due to the time constraint while eight were declared closely fought contests. The decided bouts are: Nadir Khan Bahawalpuria beat Usman Shahid Sialkotia. Aamer Gul beat Aurangzab pupil of Pashi Bahawalpuria Mani (pupil of Billa) beat Babar (pupil of Ayub). Khurrum (pupil of Yaqoob) beat Rambo (pupil of Acha of Faisalabad) Hafiz Ijaz (pupil of Sheikh Pahalwan) beat Sultani Pahalwan (pupil of Amanat). Khalid of Murandi (pupil of Ayub Pahalwan) beat (Malu pupil of Jeeru Billa). Kunan (pupil of Ch Rashid) beat Mota (pupil of Ayub Pahalwan). Kuttu Pahalwan (pupil of Ayub) beat Achha (pupil of Shahid Attay Wala Gujranwala).
