KASUR A teenaged cancer patient was gang raped by the sons of village landlords and their accomplices but the local police were reluctant to arrest the accused, TheNation has learnt reliably. One Sakina Bibi of village Bhoja in the limits of Mustafabad police station, who is a cancer patient and the daughter of a handicapped poor man, was subjected to gang rape by the sons of village landlords including Liaquat s/o Juma Khan and Iqbal Mayo s/o Shakoor and others. This incident occurred some seven months back in her house when her father was not at home while the accused had threatened the girl if she discloses this incident. When the girl became pregnant, the matter was brought to the village panchayat. The village panchayat on May 24, 2010, asked Liaquat, the main accused, to marry Sakina while Iqbal would bear the expenses of the wedding. But the influential accused refused to accept the village council decision and quietly left the village. Later, police registered a case No 210/10 under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code against accused Liaquat and Iqbal. Police have so far failed to arrest any of the accused so far. The victims family has appealed to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, seeking justice. Meanwhile, rivals cut the throat of a man over an old enmity here on Tuesday, at village Malha chak No 68 in the limits of Pattoki Saddar police station. Rivals including Amanat, Bashir and an unidentified man forcibly entered the house of one Muhammad Hanif and cut his throat a sharp-edged knife.
