LAHORE - An application has been filed in Lahore High Court challenging presidential pardon to Sajjad Haider, a co-accused of Interior Minister Rehman Malik, in corruption cases in which both of them were sentenced by accountability courts. The application was filed by Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, media advisor to Save Judiciary Committee, in his already pending petition against the presidential pardon granted to Rehman Malik after a bench of Lahore High Court had rejected his appeals against the sentence in absentia. The petitioner requested the court to hear this application as an urgent case on Wednesday (today). It is pertinent to mention here that Sajjad Haider was staff officer of Federal Minister Rehman Malik and along with Rehman Malik his punishment by accountability court was also pardoned by President Asif Ali Zardari when their appeals were dismissed by the Lahore High Court.
