LAHORE Terming the Sasti Roti Scheme a political gimmick, Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer has said that the needy could not get benefit from the scheme, as 80 per cent of these tandoors are operating only in three big cities of the province. Talking to the media at Governor House on Tuesday, he alleged that the Punjab Chief Minister had given 20 bullet-proof vehicles to his relatives, while the CM House was bearing the expenses of the Raiwind Farm. He further alleged that the entire Elite Force of the police has been deputed on the security of the Punjab CMs relatives. He said that Punjab government has failed in collecting taxes and asked the federal government for financial assistance on monthly basis to meet the expenses of the province. Salmaan said that he was happy to see the caretaker governor and he would be happy to welcome the MPAs and workers of PML-N at Governor House even in his presence. The Governor said that weakening of democracy would not be in the interest of anyone and any conspiracy against the federal government would be tantamount to conspiring against the country. Online adds: Taseer alleged that the provincial government is facing a deficit of Rs25 billion in tax collection. He said the provincial government demands money every month from the federal government, which contradicts provincial governments claims of good governance.
