LAHORE Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridis effort to convince Mohammed Yousuf to reverse his retirement decision went in vain as the veteran turned down the all-rounders request. According to reports, Afridi, who was chosen as the captain of the national side for all the three formats Tuesday, contacted Yousuf to change his mind but the latter refused by maintaining that his decision was final. Yousuf announced his retirement from international cricket after the board had imposed an indefinite ban on him in the aftermath of Pakistans disastrous tour of Australia. Afridi wanted the experienced duo of former captains Younis Khan and Yousuf who were considered to be the backbone of Pakistan cricket before both were banned for the tour of England, reports said. Afridi is aware of the tough English conditions and that is why he wants both the top batsmen in the team, reports added
