Body formed to resolve livestock issues

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Punjab Livestock and Agriculture Minister Ahmad Ali Aulakh has constituted a committee to resolve issues relating to livestock sector. Chairing a meeting of Standing Committee comprising six MPAs held here on Wednesday, he said that mafia had illegally occupied the state land with the connivance of farm superintendents. Dr Irfan Zahid gave three proposals for the development of livestock sector. He said focus should be on conservation of indigenous breeds, production of quality semen for small farmers, farms available for research, training and demonstration. He highlighted the advantages and disadvantages of privatisation of public sector farms. He also briefed the participants about benefits of partnership with flagship companies in livestock. He informed that there were 22 livestock farms located in different zones.
