CCPO seeks public backing in terror war

LAHORE Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmed Raza Tahir has said that terrorists want to destroy unity and solidarity of the country. Therefore, it is obligation of every Pakistani to extend wholehearted cooperation to police and the administration to eliminate scourge of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism. The CCPO said that police alone could not defeat terrorism unless the people play their due role for the national cause. According to an official handout issued on Wednesday, he stated this while talking to 15-member delegation of District Peace Committee, which called on him under the leadership of Peer Ibraheem Syalvi. The CCPO further said that regular meetings of District Peace Committee would be held, which would go along way in raising the consciousness of the masses against terrorism. He also called upon Ulema and Meshaikh to impart the eternal Islamic teachings of unity and peace among its followers. The Chairman District Peace Committee, Peer Ibraheem Syalvi assured CCPO that Ulma and Mashiakh would cooperate with the police in eliminating the curse of terrorism as terrorists have no religion. Religious leaders including Khawaja Bisharat Hussain Karbali, Molana Javed Akbar Saqi, Alama Shakeelur Rehman Nasir, Syed Ajmal Naqvi, Molana Mehmood Al-Hassan Tohadi, Molana Bashir Silfi, Molana Rajeh Ullah Khan Hazarvi and Agha Shah Hussain Qazalbash were also present.
