Livestock farms progress reviewed

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - The first meeting of standing committee comprising six members of provincial assembly was held here to review the progress of livestock farms. Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh chaired the meeting. Dr lrfan Zahid delivered a comprehensive presentation in which he gave three proposals for the development of livestock sector. Talking about the first proposal of improvement of farms in public sector, he briefed that due to said proposal focus remains on conservation of indigenous breeds, production of quality semen for small farmer, farms available for research, training and demonstration. The total area of livestock farms is 82,904 in which cultivable area is 44,959, direct area 23,103, on lease 21,857 and uncultivable area is 37,945, he added. While addressing the participants Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Minister Livestock & Agriculture said that I myself have constituted a committee consisting Forest, Agriculture and Livestock Departments to resolve livestock issues and visited the areas like Rakh Ghulaman, Rajan Pur, Kheri Moorat, Khushab, Bhunneki, Jahangir abad, Bahadur Nagar, Khizerabad.
