ISLAMABAD In a bid to assure the non-presence of terrorist elements, Islamabad Police on Wednesday have started conducting a fresh survey in all four zones of the Capital to get information about the tenants and others. For the collection of the data a specific form has been introduced in this regard to know about the background of residents of the Capital. This was decided in a meeting held here Monday presided by SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, SP Saddar Dr. Khuram Rasheed, SP City Muhammad Ilyas, SP Rural Umer Hyat, SP Industrial Area Ishaq Warraich, SP CIA Ch Liaqat Ali and all Station House Officers of Islamabad Police. Following the directions of IGP Islamabad Wajid Ali Khan Durrani to make Islamabad city more secure through effective measures, the SSP directed all police officials to conduct survey in their respective areas and gather information about all the persons residing in their respective jurisdictions. He said that new form had been introduced that would maintain complete information about the history of people permanently or temporarily residing there. He said that notables of the community are being involved in this process and security and vigilance committees in various police stations have been activated to ensure success in obtaining accurate information. The SSP said that new beat system has been introduced in the city and Community Police Centres (CPCs) are functioning in various areas with the purpose to maintain high vigilance and curb anti-social activities. The SSP also reviewed the performance of all police officials during the last month and directed to dispose off under investigation at earliest. He directed all SPs that those investigation officers involved in delaying of submitting challans of cases in courts should be issued show cause notices. The SSP Tahir Alam Khan said it is the prime responsibility of the police to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and activities of anti-social elements should be curbed for relief to the citizens. The SSP directed to maintain high vigilance at police pickets and conduct strict checking of suspects. He categorically asked all SHOs to launch massive crackdown against those involved in running gambling den, immoral activities or selling narcotics in their respective areas. Arrest of criminals involved in such heinous crimes must be ensured, he maintained.
