Apropos press report of May 15 where the fabulous rich Senator and barrister Aitzaz Ahsan has demanded additional perks for Senators, at par with bureaucracy. It seems amazing that he has compared Senators, who enjoy relaxed attendance and no accountability for any assigned duty with full time bureaucrats, who reach high posts through years of hard work and continuous performance evaluation. Amazing, he has compared Senators with bureaucrats who are not permitted private business. As such, comparison of Senators with bureaucracy for more perks does not appear to be logical.
Worthy Barrister should have proved poverty or financial hardships of Senators, because of devotion to service of the poor nation, to justify more perks. Instead of more perks, worthy barrister should justify existing financial burden of party selected Senators on this poor and bankrupt nation, in the presence of directly elected MNAs and MPAs. Worthy readers may please like to debate indispensability or necessity of Senators, with reference to their performance and local requirements.
