ISLAMABAD - Hundred of Trade union representatives and workers here on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against the Industrial Relations Bill-08, which has recently been passed by the National Assembly. The protesters took rally from Melody Press Club to Aabpara Market holding placards inscribed with slogans against inflation, unemployment, privatisation, and anti labour laws. Khurshid Ahmed, General Secretary, Zahoor Awan, Deputy General Secretary of the federation along with Chaudary Yaseen, Tikka Khan and many other representatives of the federation also joined the protest. The workers of the trade unions affiliated with Pakistan Workers Federation, including Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Union, OGDCL, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Mazdoor Union, Holiday Inn employees Union, Marriott Hotel Employees Union, National Bank and United Bank and from many other federations were also present in the protest. While addressing the activists, Khurshid Ahmad said that the bill was even worse than that of Industrial Relations Ordinance (IRO), 2002 and said that no consultation was made with any labour's representatives or industrialists before passing the bill.
