National Assembly is the little Pakistan. If there is some sort of cohesion (I could not think of no better word for 'Hum Ahungee') in it, there will be peace in the country. That is what Yousuf Raza Gilani had also said on December 27 way back in 1994 when he was Speaker National Assembly. Now that he is Leader of the House, may I ask what has he done to achieve that objective? At least I do not see any signs of cohesion anywhere, least of all in the assembly. There is confusion, choler and an extreme sense of gloom all around us. The PM is seen to be working only to achieve his party objectives. One glaring example is his declaration that Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, whom he had called 'Imam of the judges', cannot be restored without order from his leadership. Most analysts believe the NA is moving without any sense of direction. If any of your readers differs with this, I shall be glad to read his comments. -ZIAUDDIN, Lahore, via e-mail, November 12.
