LAHORE-In a reply to series of letters by Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has written a letter to the Governor on Tuesday reminding him of his Constitutional limits and called his conduct a well-crafted attempt to influence the coalition govt in Punjab. Shahbaz in a letter dispatched to Governor's House expressed regret over Salman Taseer's attitude which according to him has caused unrest in the province. Shahbaz said that 'he would never compromise on public welfare projects, good governance, continuation of transparent development and fulfilling his Constitutional and political responsibilities'. He made it clear in the letter that Governor had the right to seek information regarding different issues including development projects ,adding, that Governor was not empowered to take to task elected Chief Minister of the province. He warned the Governor not to indulge in political affairs. 'Governor House should not be used as platform to hold political activities and influence the elected govt', he added. The letter further said that under the Parliamentary system, CM performs as the Executive Authority and Governor worked on his advice. But, chaos was being created under malafide intentions, the letter added. The letter said that both PPP and PML-N were enjoying similar authority and status and there was no disparity in this regard. 'As far as good governance is concerned, provincial govt is proud of making all appointments on merit', he added. Shahbaz said that the Governor was transgressing his authority by dishonouring the rules of business.
