ISLAMABAD The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan, H. Gajus Scheltema, visited Engineering Development Board (EDB) and discussed the possibilities for establishing meaningful linkages and cooperation to enhance engineering sector exports. EDB CEO Aitazaz A. Niazi briefed him on the working and activities of the Board and highlighted potential areas for investment in various engineering sectors, says a press release. The work relations already established with Dutch organisations like PUM and CBI were appreciated by the Ambassador, who ensured of his full support for further encouraging the Dutch Experts and business community for visiting Pakistan which is offering conducive business environment. CEO, EDB also highlighted the need for inviting Dutch Companies to establish Product Testing & Certification Labs in Pakistan to help enhance exports of engineering goods to Europe. The ambassador highlighted the importance of introducing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the industries which is the need of the day. He appreciated the efforts made by the Board towards giving international exposure to a large number of engineering companies by way of taking them to international trade fairs. EDB CEO invited Dutch companies for investment in the Wind Turbine Project which has a great potential in Pakistan. He further highlighted the excellent work done in various other sectors like surgical, cutlery, fan, electrical fittings etc and appreciated the support extended by Dutch Senior Experts in refining businesses of SMEs in these sectors.
