In early 2009, a Standing Committee of the Senate had ordered the PIA to refund Rs 35000 to each Haji who travelled by it to perform Haj in 2008, because the PIA had fleeced the Hajis that year. Nothing has beenheard since then, and no action has beentaken in this regard. Someone, quoting higher PIA authorities, told me thatthe PIA hadappealed in the Supreme Court against the decision of the committee. If so (which is not confirmed), who is pleading the case for Hajis? Is the Standing Committee not responsible for implementation of its decisions? Will someone concerned in the Judiciary/Senate/PIA clarify the position? HAQ NAWAZ KHAN, Peshawar, November 22.
