LAHORE - The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has launched a detailed area assessment survey in 19 different districts of the province to locate and identify the poor localities and city-slums for introducing education voucher scheme for poor children living in these areas. Currently, EVS is serving in 17 districts including Lahore. This scheme will give an opportunity to the children to get enrolled in 'school of choice in their areas. This was stated by Chairman Punjab Education Foundation, Raja Anwar while briefing the delegations of students, teachers and general public who visited the PEF Information Desk set-up at Childrens Literature Festival at Childrens Library Complex on Friday. Briefing the visiting delegations, PEF Chairman said that PEF had already distributed 60 thousand vouchers in deserving children of 17 districts so that they could join schools near to their homes. EVS is very beneficial for girl students as they often cannot go to far-off schools due to lack of resources or family traditions, he added.
