The 775th annual Urs of sufi saint Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani will take place on November 29. Addressing a meeting held to review arrangements for the Urs, the District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal said that the arrangements were finalized and the proceedings would begin at 9am on Saturday. He disclosed that 800 cops and 300 traffic wardens would be deployed to maintain law and order situation and keep the wheel moving. He said that all government departments would set up their camps at Qila Qasim Bagh. He said that the devotees coming to attend the Urs would be provided food, healthcare facilities and clean drinking water. He declared that special train and transport would be run for the Urs. He asked the citizens to cooperate with the district administration and police.
SPECIAL PERSONS FESTIVAL: The town is going to host a three-day Special Persons Festival in connection with World Special Persons Day falling on December 3. The festival will begin at Sports Ground on December 1 and continue till 3rd.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Zahid Saleem Gondal said that special security and other arrangements would be made for the festival to facilitate the special citizens. Chairing a meeting held to review arrangements for the festival here on Tuesday, the DCO added that special children and citizens would participate in sports and other competitions during the festival while musical concerts would also be held to entertain the participants. He said that special persons were equally important members of our society but unfortunately they were neglected and denied rights. He directed the heads of Social Welfare and Labour Departments to conduct a survey in the district and arrange accurate data of special persons in Multan so that appropriate arrangements could be made for the festival. He hoped that the festival would create awareness among masses on the importance and rights of special persons.
