LAHORE - Kashmiri leaders on Tuesday held a protest demonstration against the holding of elections in Held Kashmir in front of Lahore Press Club.

The Kashmiri leaders, under the banner of Kashmir Centre, Lahore, staged a demonstration by saying that Indian government was carrying out a fraud electoral exercise in Occupied Kashmir, which had nothing to do with the wishes of Kashmiri people living in the held valley.

The protest was held on the call of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) which said that they had rejected polls under the Indian constitution. The call was also backed by the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The Kashmiri leaders who participated in the protest demonstration included Ghulam Mohyuddin Dewan, Mirza Sadiq Jaral, Raja Shahzad, Farooq Azad, Qasim Farooqi and Kashmir Centre administrators, Sajid Mehmood and Inamul Hassan. Addressing the participants of the protest, the Kashmiri leaders termed the elections a drama and urged the United States to stop the Indian government from accomplishing an unconstitutional and unlawful act in the occupied valley.

They said Kashmir issue could be resolved only through self-determination and not by a fraud election. They added the Kashmiri people had boycotted the Indian elections in Occupied Kashmir as the fraud electoral exercise would be against the United Nations resolutions. They asserted that Indian occupying forces were dealing with the third generation of Kashmiris in the held valley, adding the present generation, following the examples of their elders, would resist the BJP government with all their energies.
