LAHORE - PTI founding leader and Punjab former president Ahsan Rasheed passed away on Tuesday after a protracted illness. The funeral prayers of the deceased would be offered at Nisar Colony Cantt today (Wednesday).

Ahsan Rasheed was an engineer by profession and remained the chief of a Saudi company before joining the PTI. He was among the top leaders who were founding members of the PTI and a close aide of Imran Khan.  He played a very active role in legal fraternity and political parties movement against the military rule of Pervez Musharraf and was arrested during the struggle.  Ahsan was suffering from heart disease and cancer but remained active in party activities till the 2013 general elections but due to the intensity of the lethal cancer he had to disassociate himself from politics for the past several months.

Party Chairman Imran Khan and other leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ijaz Chaudhary, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Jahangir Tareen, Chief Minister Khyber PK, Pervez Khattak, Asad Umer, Arif Alvi and Dr Yasmin Rashid expressed deep grief over the sad demise of their party’s founding leader.

Imran said that Ahsan remained part of the PTI through thick and thin and was a true ideological member of his party. He did a lot for strengthening the party despite his serious illness and his services would be remembered always.
