ISLAMABAD - With reference to the news story published in TheNation on Saturday, October 24, with headline NBPs Masood forced to resign for opposing RPPs, Masood Karim Shaikh has issued the following statement: Please note that I have not been forced to resign from NBP on the issue of rental power financing. I am leaving the bank on my own accord and with mutual consent. I wish to pursue other interest and career options. TheNation stands by the story - Notwithstanding Mr Shaikhs clarification of his position vis-a-vis the National Bank of Pakistan, the sources insisted that he did resist payments to RPPs for quite some time annoying both the top management and the govt. The sources close to Mr Shaikh further said that even before resigning he had talked to some of his friends about the pressure on him that led to his resignation.
