LAHORE As many as six low scoring matches of Pakistan Premier Football League were decided on Sunday. Three of them were drawn while other three ended with narrow margin wins. Navy drew 1-1 with League leaders KRL with both goals coming in first half at Naval Complex, Islamabad. PEL utilised spot-kick to snatch precious point from jaw of WAPDA in 1-1 scoreline at MTFA Ground, Lahore. HBL put up tough fight to draw PIA 1-1 at fantastic Shadab Football Stadium, Karachi. Meanwhile, NBP earned hard-fought 1-0 win over Afghan FC at Korangi Baloch ground and in the same way KPT found hard fight from Nushki Baloch FC before portmen overcoming them 2-1 at KPT - Benazir Sports Complex, West Wharf Road, Kharadar, Karachi. PAF showed determination and extended Army to distance but long-range winner gave the soldiers full three points at PAF Complex, Islamabad. During Navy-KRL clash, seamen were the first to open the scoring when Nomi Martin Gill opened the scoring from 17th minute penalty-kick but KRL levelled the terms when injury time of first half saw winger Muhammad Qasim created the leveller for young Mehmood Khan. It was 1-1 in the first half and there was no further scoring. KRL managed 37 points from 15 matches as compared to Navys 28 in 14 matches. The NBP earned their fourth win of the completion when Muhammad Asifs 25th minute goals proved enough for them as Afghan FC suffered their ninth defeat, going down 0-1. Both the teams completed 16 matches with Afghan and NBP produced 13 and 14 points respectively. The KPT had struggled to beat Nushkis Baloch FC 2-1 after 2-0 up at interval. KPTs hero was winger Zahid Ahmed who struck both goals for the winners in the 26th and 34th minute. Nushki put up stubborn display in second session and pulled one back in the 86th minute through striker Jami Ahmed. It was 16th tie for both teams with KPT getting 26 and Baloch FC only two points. HBL had to thank their Turbat-born winger Bilal Ahmed for snatching valuable point from Nasr Ullah Khan-led PIA in 1-1 draw. Bilal beat keeper Bilal Rafiq all ends up in the 37th minute after airmen took the lead from Ali Ehsans 17th minute goal. PIA and HBL collected 21and 19 points respectively after completion of 15 matches each. The PAF put up tight defensive tactics under Qazi Asif against formidable Army but ultimately went down 0-1. The lone goal of the match emerged in the 30th minute when midfielder Ansar Abbass immense-power 30 metre drive went past Amir Alis fist. Army registered 32 points in 14 games while PAF produced 15 in 15 matches. PEL won the hearts of many soccer enthusiasts when they held WAPDA to 1-1 draw. After listless first half, WAPDA took the lead through their leading marksman Arif Mehmood in the 60th minute but PELs midfielder Sagheer Ahmed reduced the arrears from 78th minute penalty kick. WAPDA managed 36 points in 15 games while PEL recorded 16 points in 14 matches.
