LAHORE - There was a telephonic contact between Governor Punjab Salman Taseer and Chief Minster Mian Shahbaz Sharif in which matters pertaining to security arrangements on the eve of the visit of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other related matters were discussed. They agreed to finalise the measures after due deliberations and welcome the distinguish guest jointly. Governor Salman asked Shahbaz about his visit to London, especially the medical check up, and expressed his good wishes for the chief minister. The CM informed the governor about his fitness and his intention to carry on his task. The governor informed the chief minister about the details of Hillarys visit to the metropolis and security arrangements as she was scheduled to visit Governor and Chief Ministers Houses besides Govt College and Lahore Fort. When contacted, Governor Salman said he had telephoned Shahbaz to ask about his health, adding that they would participate in welcoming functions jointly. Answering a question, he said, The situation prevailing in the country demands that we should not only welcome the eminent guests but also find out solutions to all the problems as people are expecting us to deliver. Shahbaz Sharif assured that all necessary measures would be taken to make the US Secretary of States visit a success. It is important to note that it is the first direct contact between the two leaders after a long span of time. Sources say President Zar-dari will also call Shahbaz about the visit and other issues.
