OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE PML-Q president Ch Shujat Hussain has said that the party workers would fail rigging attempts of the PML-N in the coming by-elections for PP-275 in Bahawalpur. Chairing a meeting along with senior federal minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi to decide party candidate for the by polls in PP-275 Yazman district Bahawalpur here on Tuesday, he alleged that the N-League was habitual of resorting to rigging but the party workers were ready to frustrate the plan. The PML-Q awarded the ticket to Ch Muhammad Ehsan-ul-Haq for contesting the by election. Former party ticket holder for the same constituency Ch Mashud Nasir assured the party candidate his complete moral and material support in the election campaign. Party office bearers, former nazims, naib nazims and other important PML-Q personalities attended the meeting. Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that N League had always duped the people and had never kept the promises made at election time. He said that since 2008 no mega project in Punjab including Lahore had been initiated by N Leagues government. He blamed the Punjab government of rewarding the poor and innocent people who had voted for them in 2008 with the dengue menace. He criticised the recent intermediate examinations results scandal and accused Punjab government of rigging the examination system the way they had been customarily rigging the elections. He flayed brutal and inhuman handling of the protesting students. The participants of the meeting in the end passed a unanimous resolution to acknowledge the determination demonstrated by Ch Moonis Elahi during his recent trial. Speaking on the occasion former Bahawalpur nazim Tariq Bashir Cheema, MPA Dr Afzal and others said that due to the outstanding past services of Ch Parvaiz Elahi, the PML-Q candidate would win the by poll comfortably.
