OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - In continuation of his attack against President Zardari and the Federal Government, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that corruption, plunder and nepotism of the ruling group can cause irreparable damage to Pakistan. There is a need for the people to stand up collectively to avert the impending doom, said Sharif while addressing a meeting here on Tuesday of the Assembly members and PML-N office bearers to review arrangements for a rally on October 28 at Model Town. Opposition Leader in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Senator Pervaiz Rashid were also present on the occasion. Shahbaz said that people expected that after getting rid of the dictator who had toppled the democratic system they would get relief but the greed and lust of the person holding the highest office had made their life miserable. He said that Pakistans image at the international level was at stake due to the corruption of the ruling group and the whole Pakistani nation was being punished for the misdeeds of one individual. He said that it was unfortunate that instead of qualification and merit in the appointment to the senior posts in the federal government the criteria was how far the candidate could be helpful in the loot and plunder of the rulers. He said that the announcement of the rally by Muslim League-N had promoted political awakening and a sense of national responsibility in the people of Lahore and Muslim League workers and the corridors of power were shaking with the voice of protest being raised from Lahore. He said that Muslim League-N will welcome cooperation from any person who was ready to support the efforts to get rid of the oppressive and corrupt government.
