RAHIM YAR KHAN - All the five sugar mills, situated in the district, have announced commencing crushing season 2011-2012 from November 15, 2011. Reportedly, these sugar mills have also lighted the boilers for testing. Reportedly, the sugar mills in upper Punjab have also started purchasing sugarcane from different areas of the district. Talking to the media manger of a sugar mill Chaudhry Rauf Gujjar said that after Eidul Azha, up to November 15, all sugar mills would in the district would start crushing. He informed that sugar mills of upper Punjab had started crushing and they were purchasing sugarcane from District Rahim Yar Khan. He further said due to the exorbitant hike in the price of fertilizers and costly water, the cost of sugarcane crop was much higher against the previous year and the growers were also worried about the current rates of sugarcane.
