UAFASA threatens protest

FAISALABAD - The Academic Staff Association of University of Agriculture Faisalabad launched a weeklong protest against non-payment of annual pay increment to the university employees despite a lapse of three months of its announcement. In this connection, a large number of academic as well as administrative staff, wearing black armbands observed a token strike after 11:00am to get their voices heard for their problem. The protesters expressed concerns over the non-payment of annual pay increment to the UAF employees and urged the administration to solve the issue immediately so that the employees may get their due right without further delay. On the occasion, the ASA executive body unanimously declared that if the increment was not paid, the academic as well as administrative staff would raise their voice by launching a massive protest which would include boycott of teaching activities. They also warned that they would be left with no option but to resort to protest by taking out rallies from the auditorium on Wednesday (today) and October 27. They also warned that if the administration remained adamant the protest would be further intensified by staging a sit-in on Jail Road.
