ISLAMABAD - The United States will force no body to sit on the table for Afghan peace talks. This was stated by the spokesperson of the US Embassy to Pakistan Mark Stroh in response to an interview of one of the commanders of the Haqqani Network saying that Haqqanis will not talk Afghan peace alone. He said the US was committed to supporting Afghan-owned and Afghan-led reconciliation process. We hope we can work together with Afghanistan and Pakistan governments, Mark Stroh told TheNation, adding that he was not aware of any talks for peace going on behind the scene. One of the commanders of the Haqqani Network in an interview to the Reuters said that the Afghan Haqqani group will not individually take part in any peace talks with the United States and the Taliban must lead negotiations.
