KARACHI/LAHORE - Arrangements are being made to bring President PPP-P Makhdoom Amin Fahim to Karachi from Dubai where he is under treatment for his cancer disease, family sources told The Nation, adding that he is expected to reach Karachi soon, most probably on Monday (today).

Makhdoom Amin Fahim is fighting cancer for the last over six months. He underwent a major surgery related to cancer at Berlin, Germany last month and underwent post- surgery treatment at a hospital in London.

“He is not in coma. He can communicate; he can talk and eat on his own,” Fahim’s brother Rafique Zaman told The Nation on Sunday night. He also dispelled reports that Makhdoom was seriously ill.

“Yes, he is ill but his condition is stable,” he said, adding that Makhdoom would be admitted in a Karachi hospital for few days and then shifted to his home town, Hala where he is likely to spend two weeks with the family.

“If necessary, he would be flown back to London or America for further treatment,” Rafique informed this paper.

Fahim, who is in his late 70s, is also member of the National Assembly from Hala (NA-218). He is the spiritual head of the Sarwari Jamaat that is said to have millions of disciples across the world.

Talking to The Nation, a close confidante of Amin Fahim, Qazi Shahab, said that the news being aired regarding the serious health condition of Ameen Fahim was untrue.

“He is, rather, recovering from disease and is now in a stable condition”. He further said that Amin Fahim was also planning to return to the country and would be here in two to three days.

However, the sources privy to the health condition of the PPPP leader said that he was in a critical condition and would be brought back from Dubai to Karachi by an air ambulance by Monday morning and would be admitted at Agha Khan Hospital, Karachi.

PPP Sindh Media Cell also denied reports of Amin’s serious health condition. “His treatment is being carried out abroad and he was recovering from it,” the statement added.

Moreover, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah telephoned son of the PPP-P leader, Makhdoom Jameeluz Zaman and inquired after his health. The chief minister also prayed for his early recovery.
