LAHORE - A death row inmate died of HIV yesterday in Kot lakhpat jail, police sources said.
Prisoner Asif Sultan, resident of Sharifpura, had been confined in the jail since 2005 for killing a man in Shadman. During imprisonment, he contracted HIV reportedly through injecting equipment. Sultan went under treatment on Sunday but his condition went worse. He was shifted to hospital where the doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
Police have shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and informed his family members about his death. No jail official was available to comment on the issue.
