Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed today dispatched hundreds of doctors, paramedics and supporters to offer relief to those affected by what he called “the worst earthquake in Pakistan’s history.”
More than 300 doctors and nurses along with essential medicines were sent to KPK and Northern Areas,” JuD spokesperson Yahya Mujahid told The Nation.
His announcement revived memories of the JuD’s vast relief effort during the 2005 Kashmir earthquake when militants from his group were often the first rescuers to reach the worst affected – long before the official government relief operation.
“We are facing difficulties as the damages are across large tract of land in KPK, Punjab and AJK. Hafiz sahib has appealed to doctors and medical staff for extending their cooperation in relief work of Falah-e-Insanyat Foundation. We especially required orthopaedics as volunteers.”
Falah-e-Insanyat Foundation (FIF) is JuD’s sister organization and has experience of working during 2005 earthquake in Pakistan.
