Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram marking the supreme sacrifice and martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), was observed with fervour. Scores of Zuljinnah, Aalm and tazia processions were taken out and Majalis were held to commemorate the tragedy of Karbala and the struggle for the supremacy of Islam.
However, the day passed peacefully amid unprecedented security arrangements across Punjab.
In Bahawalnagar, Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram was observed with religious fervour amid tight security across the district. Ulema and zakereens paid glowing tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for greatest sacrifices at Karbala. More than 20 processions of Alam and Zuljinnah were brought out across the district while three Majalis of Sham-e-Gareeban were held. Main procession of the day was brought out from central Imambargah. The mourners beat their chests and committed self-flagellation to mourn the tragedy of Karbala. Meanwhile a traditional Sunni Tazia was also taken out from Nizampura. They beat drums to express victory of the Imams at Karbala. Tight security measures were adopted to avert any untoward incident.
In Mandi Bahauddin, Ashura was observed across the district to mark the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). Processions of Tazia, Alm and Zuljinnah were taken out in major town of the district including Mandi Bahauddin, Phalia and Malakwal. Religious clerics and scholars paid great tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions for rendering supreme sacrifice at Karbala to uphold supremacy of Islam. Mourning processions were brought out to commemorate the tragedy of Karbala. Mourning processions reached their destination safely where Sham-e-Ghareban were held.
In Mandi Bahauddin main procession was taken out from Hussainia Imambargah which culminated at Central Imambargah after passing through traditional route. The police had made elaborated security arrangements for safe passage of the mourning processions and Majalis and to avoid any mishap. Pillion riding was banned and cellular service remained suspended. DPO Raja Basharat kept on checking security measures during processions and Majalis and passed on instructions to his subordinates on the spot.
In Sargodha, Youm-e-Ashur was observed with full respect and tribute to the great sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his follower for Islam. More than 216 minor and large mourning processions including Tazia and Zuljinnah were taken out across the district which merged into main procession that emerged from Imambargah in Block No-19 and ended at Karbala Manzil after marching through traditional route. On the occasion, the police and district administration had taken concrete security measures. More than 3,000 police personnel were deployed while 28 walk-through gates, 350 metal detector and 80 CCTV cameras were installed to ensure security of the processions. DCO Saqib Manan, DPO Sajjad Hassan Manj and other officers monitored security of the processions personally.
In Lalamusa, Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharramul Haram marking the supreme sacrifice and martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), was observed in Lalamusa with religious reverence and solemnity.
Special prayers were offered at mosques and Imambargahs after Fajr for the martyrs of Karbala. Zuljinnah, tazias and alm processions were taken out. The main Zuljinnah procession was taken out from central Imambargh Abu Talib on Railway Road. The participants of the procession marched through the traditional route and the mourners indulged in flagellation and chest beating to commemorate the great struggle of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for uphold the supremacy of Islam. Religious scholars and Zakireens at Majalis shed light on the diverse aspects, philosophy and tragedy of Karbala. They described the spirit of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions to uphold the glory of Islam. Tight security arrangements were made to avoid any toward incident. The main Zuljinnah procession concluded at Ali Mosque on Eidgah Road which was followed by Majlise Sham-e-Garebaan at Imambargah Abu Talib.
In Wazirabad, dozens of Alam and Zuljinnah procession were taken out and scores of Majalis were held amid elaborated security across the tehsil.
The day passed peacefully and there was no any unpleasant incident reported from anywhere in the tehsil. In the city, faithful brought out three main processions of Alam and Zuljinnah from Imambargah Mohajreen; Imambargah Modi Khana and Imambargah Shabihul Hassan to commemorate the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and companions.
Strict security arrangements were made by the Law Enforcement Agencies to avert any incident. Heavy deployment was made on the routes of all processions while roads and streets leading to the routes of processions were also blocked by the police. A Bomb Disposal Squad from Gujranwala remained the procession.
In Gujranwala, Ashura was observed with religious fervour and all processions of 10th of Muharramul Haram ended peacefully after passing through traditional routes. The main Alam and Zuljinnah procession appeared from Imambargah Gulastan-e-Marfat while about 86 other processions were taken out from different imambargahs across the city. The participants paid homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for the supreme sacrifices they offered at Karbala. Sabeels were set up at different points on the route of the processions. Strict security arrangements were made by police and district administration to avoid any untoward incident. Gujranwala DCO Amir Jan and CPO Waqas Nazir inspected security and other arrangements on routes of the processions.
In Sialkot, Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram was observed with reverence and religious solemnity in Sialkot district amid tight security. The district police successfully implemented foolproof security plan to ensure peace and sectarian harmony in the district during Ashura Muharram. The paramilitary troops patrolled sensitive areas of Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur and surroundings to ensure law and order.
Sialkot DCO Dr Asif Tufail said that overall situation remained peaceful on Ashura across the district. A total of 154 Tazia, Alam and Zuljinnah processions were taken out in district amid tight security and which passed through traditional routes. The processions were terminated at main Imambargahs in Imam Sahib Chowk, Adda Pasruriyan.
On Youm-e-Ashur, Zakirs, Naat Khwaans and religious scholars also highlighted significance of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions who laid down their lives for supremacy of justice and righteousness. Water and milk Sabeels were also be set up to quench the thirst of the mourners.
A special Control Room was established at Police Lines Sialkot to monitor the situation.
More than 1,400 police personnel, 300 Police Qaumi Razkars and 1,000 volunteers were deployed to provide foolproof security to the mourners.
In Toba Tek Singh, the 10th of Muharram was observed with religious reverence and fervour all over the district amid tight security. Many processions of Tazia, Alam and Zuljinnah appeared from different areas and Majalis were held in Imambargahs to remember the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions at Karbala. The foolproof security measures had been taken for the protection of the mourners and azadars.DCO Amer Ijaz Akbar, DPO Rana Shahzad Akbar, ADC Zeshan Shabbir Rana and ACs of Toba, Goja and Kamalia Wasif Bashir Khokhar, Tanweer Kashif and Hafiz Najeeb supervised security of processions in their respective areas. The main and largest Ashura procession was taken out from Imambargah Jhang Road which ended at the same place after passing through its traditional routes in the city areas.
In Hafizabad, Ashura-e-Muharram was observed in Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian, Jalalpur, Vanike Tarar, Sukheke, Kasessay, Rasulpur Tarar and others towns, amid tight security, with usual religious reverence on Saturday. As many as 37 Alam, Zuljinnah and Tazia processions were taken out across the district.
Ulema and Zakreeen urged the Muslims to shun their petty differences and forge greater unity to foil evil designs of anti-Islam and anti-State elements. They also called upon the believers to imbibe in them the true spirit of supreme sacrifices offered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions. RPO Gujranwala Muhammad Tahir himself visited Hafizabad on Saturday to monitor security arrangements made by the district police. The DPO supervised the security arrangements. More than 150 CCTV cameras were installed to monitor to check activities of suspicious persons. Meanwhile, while addressing 45th Shadat-e-Imam Hussain (RA) Conference here, Pir Syed Wasimul Hassan Naqvi, Chief of Jamaatul Suffa Pakistan, paid glowing tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companion for sacrificing their lives for the glorification of Islam which is unique in the history of mankind. He called upon the Muslims to inculcate in them “Hussaini Thinking” and forge greater unity in them to foil the evil designs of Yazidi forces who are hell bent to hatch conspiracies against Islam and Pakistan.
In Khanewal, Youm-e-Ashur was observed throughout the district with fervour and solemnity amid elaborated security. All processions and Majalis of 10th Muharram concluded peaceful in all the four tehsils of the district.
The main procession of Ashura was taken out from Imambargah Block No-11. A large number of mourners participated in this procession of Alam and Zuljinnah and marched through Chowk Ahle Hadith, Gapiwala Chowk, Sanglanwala Chowk and other roads. Later, the procession culminated at Imambargah old Khanewal where Majlise Shame Ghareeban was held. Ulema and scholars described about the Shahadat of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RS) and philosophy behind his martyrdom. They asked the public to act upon the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RS) and get ready to fight against the forces working against Islam.
MPA Nishat Ahmad Khan Daha, DCO Khanewal Khalid Mehmood Sh, DPO Jahanzeb Nazir Khan and ADCG Asfaq Ch monitored the procession. Tight security arrangements were made by the district police. The DPO remained with processions and was monitoring the security live via police surveillance van while drone heli-cam was also used aerial filming and monitoring.
Bahawalpur, all the processions and Majalis of Ashura, the 10th of Muharram concluded peaceful across Bahawalpur Division amid tight security. The divisional administration had made foolproof arrangements and security for the day.
A total of 204 processions were taken out and 84 Majalis were held on 10th of Muharram throughout the division. More than 10,000 personnel of law enforcement agencies were deployed for security of the Ashura processions.
Punjab Cooperatives Minister Malik Iqbal Channar monitored security in Bahawalpur city. Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar and RPO Ehsan Sadiq visited district Rahim Yar Khan and other areas of the division to monitor security, especially of the sensitive locations.
Cellular service remained blocked across the division in the day which was restored at 8pm in the night. In Mailsi, Youm-e-Ashur was observed in a peaceful manner across the tehsil on Saturday. A total of 65 processions were taken out on the 10th of Muharram and 200 Majalis were held in different parts of the tehsil. The main procession was taken out from Markazi Imambargah under the auspicious of under Anjuman-e-Hussainia which passed through Quaid-e-Azam Road and ended in Thana Bazaar. More than 300 police personnel performed security duty on Ashura besides volunteers and razakars. Rescue 1122 and THQ Hospital had made elaborated arrangements to meet any eventuality. The Mailsi TMA staff throughout remained alert and had taken foolproof cleanliness arrangement.
