I wish to applaud the former all-rounder Azhar Mahmood for taking over as the bowling coach of the national team before the Test series against West Indies.

Azhar was also the bowling coach of the Pakistani national team during the Asia Cup and World T20 earlier this year and then for the limited over series in England but his contract ended after the Pakistani team returned home.

According to a source, due to the paucity of time the board has decided to rehire Azhar who now resides in England.

Let us have a small glance over his life as sportsman. Azhar has played 21 Tests, 141 ODIs, and 230 T20s for Pakistan scoring 900 runs and taking 39 wickets in Test, and scoring 1521 runs and taking 123 wickets in ODIs and 4091 runs. In T20s he has taken 258 wickets.

He has played a key role in the field of cricket for Pakistan.

I congratulate the man for the job and I appreciate PCB for recruiting a well talented man for the job.

MUHAMMAD BAKHTIYAR,
