Punjab in mourning over Quetta attack

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned terrorist attack on Police Training Center Quetta and expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives.

Shehbaz Sharif telephoned Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri and strongly condemned the incident of terrorism in Quetta.

He expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over loss of precious human lives in terrorist attack and expressed complete solidarity with the people and government of Balochistan.

Shehbaz Sharif said that we are standing with the people of Balochistan in this hour of difficulty and all over sympathies are with the bereaved families of martyrs. He said that the entire nation is grieved over this tragic incident. He said that everyone is sad over Quetta tragedy.

The chief minister said that he has no words to express his sentiments and feelings over Quetta tragedy. He said that cowardly acts of terrorists cannot demoralize the nation.

The chief minister paid tributes to the police personnel martyred in the attack and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families. He also prayed for early recovery of the injured police officials and said that terrorists have displayed extreme brutality and barbarism.

He said that attack on Quetta Police Training Center is a tragedy and every Pakistani is grieved over this incident. He said that terrorists cannot weaken the resolve of the nation for elimination terrorism through such cowardly acts.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the whole nation is united against terrorists and the sacrifices in the war against the menace of terrorism will not go to waste. He said that the logical end of terrorists is very close and every terrorist will be chased and eliminated. He further said that sacrifices of the brave soldiers of the country will bear fruit and terrorism will soon come to an end.

The chief minister said that survival of Pakistan depends upon rooting out the menace of terrorism and the country is fighting its own war. He said that those rendering supreme sacrifices for elimination of terrorism and restoration of peace are heroes of the nation and the people are proud of those who bravely faced terrorists without caring for their lives and embraced martyrdom for peace in the country.

He said that Quetta tragedy has further strengthened the resolve against terrorism and the nation will move forward in the war against terrorism with greater determination and commitment. The chief minister said that unity and harmony is the real strength of nation against the scourge of terrorism.

The chief minister said that it is time for unity as after the Quetta tragedy there is no room for mutual differences and the nation will have to display solidarity in the interest of the country and security of future generations. He said that Punjab government and the people of the province fully share the grief of the families of police martyrs.

CONDEMNATIONS

Leaders of political and religious parties have strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Quetta and expressed deep grief over loss of lives.

In their separate statement, PML-Q president Ch Shujjat, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq, Pakistan Awami Tehreek chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri, Jamiat Ulam-e-Pakistan president Pir Ijaz Hashmi, leaders of PPP, PTI, Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen, JUI-F, JUI-S, JUP-Noorani and other parties termed the incident unfortunate and expressed sympathies with the families of martyrs.

The leaders said such attack could not shake the nation’s resolve to defeat terror in the country.

They said that the martyrs were the pride of the nation and their sacrifices would definitely bear fruit. They said that the US-India collusion was active against this country. They said there was political anarchy in the country. They urged the rulers to give priority to national solidarity as against personal interest and abandon their intransigence on the issues of accountability.

Ch Shujat and Ch Parvez Elahi conveyed their heartfelt grief and sorrow over incident of terrorism at Police Training Centre Quetta and expressed their sympathies with the affectees and said that they share the sorrow of the affectees of this national tragedy. They said that the nation do not need condemnation statements of the rulers but raising of effective voice at the international level exposing India and other countries behind these incidents of terrorism.

They said that PML-Q paid glowing tributes to Pak army, police and all security institutions sacrifices for the country and the nation, sacrifices of these martyrs demand from us unity and solidarity against enemies of the country and the nation.

Sirajul Haq condemned the terrorist attack and expressed deep sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the martyrs.

He also prayed for the lawyers martyred at Quetta about two months back besides those killed in Mardan, and other places. JI secretary general Liaqat Baloch condemned the terrorism in Quetta. He said that the enemy was targeting security institutions, schools, hospitals, mosque and business centres.
