MULTAN-The polygraph test of cleric Mufti Abdul Qavi, an accused in Qandeel Baloch murder case, was conducted in Lahore on Wednesday, police sources said.
The district police had taken him to Lahore for the test and he was being brought back to Multan. The cleric is in police custody on a four-day physical remand. Although he rejected the allegations regarding his involvement in the murder of ht esocial media celebrity, police suspected he was telling a lie. However, police could not quiz him due to his medical condition.
Mufti complained of chest pain and congestion soon after his arrest on October 18. Although the court had given him into police custody on a four day physical remand, he was shifted to Cardiology Hospital where his angiography was done. The court extended his physical remand for four more days on Monday.
He was indicted into the case under sections 302 and 109 on the request of Qandeel’s father Azeem. The social media celebrity had been killed by her real brother on July 16, 2016 in the name of honour. Although the murderer Waseem confessed to his crime, police suspected that Mufti provoked him to commit the crime.
