RAWALPINDI - A team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested the president of Ministry of Commerce Employees Cooperating Housing Society (MOCECHS) after Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench rejected his plea to award pre-arrest bail in a corruption case.

A divisional bench of LHC Justice Tariq Mehmood Abbasi and Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf refused to award interim bail to MOCECHS President Rana Ghulam Farid on the corruption charges.

A team of NAB rounded up the accused from court premises and shifted him to headquarters for further investigation.

According to details, LHC Rawalpindi Bench took up the bail petition filed by Rana Ghulam Farid, the president of MOCECHS, during which NAB Special Public Prosecutor pleaded that the accused has been charged with corruption in the pretext of million rupees and was declared as an absconder by a court of law. Though the accused obtained transit bail yet he did not appear before the court for further proceeding, he told the court.

The prosecutor prayed to the court to cancel the plea of pre-arrest bail of the accused. After the conclusion of the arguments of the prosecution, LHC Rawalpindi Bench Justice Tariq Mehmood Abbasi and Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf refused to grant interim bail to the accused.

A team of NAB rounded up the accused outside the courtroom. NAB has filed a reference and issued an arrest warrant for President of MOCECHS on charges of corruption.
