LAHORE: PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that the government was only working to protect the Sharif family.

Addressing a press conference here Thursday, Kaira questioned as to why the former Prime Minister was not appearing before the Accountability Court. He said Nawaz Sharif is heading towards a confrontation with the state institutions, which will be very dangerous.

He said corruption records of those who were raising the slogan of transparency are now coming into the
open. He alleged that the companies formed by the rulers are exempt from Audit.

Kairi made it clear that the PPP would not allow the privatization of public sector enterprises including Pakistan Steel Mills.

He said due to defective policies of the PML-N government, the economic situation of the country has worsened.

He also took a jab at PTI leader Imran Khan and questioned why he was not appearing before the supreme
court despite being called upon. He said Imran KIhan has damaged the image of the politicians.

Kairo also criticized the government saying that because of the poor policies, the country is being
hurled with threats from all directions.
