NEW DELHI-A woman reportedly belonging to the Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) threw bangles at Prime Minister Narendra Modi just as he was conducting the road show in Vadodara on Sunday evening. The ASHA worker, who threw the bangles on Modi has been identified as Chandrika Ben. Her action prompted the prime minister to hurriedly get into his car. Security officials present at the VIP Road, where the incident took place, immediately detained Chandrika before she could repeat her act.

The video of the woman chanting Narendra Modi murdabad has now gone viral on internet. Prime Minister Modi was conducting a road show from Navlakhi Ground in Vadodara to the airport after launching several projects in the region.

Not so long ago, ASHA workers had chased a local Vadodara BJP MLA, who had controversially said that the women workers should have abused the prime minister and not him.

Surrounded and chased by the ASHA workers, the BJP MLA from Karjan in Vadodara, Satish Patel was heard saying, “don’t abuse me, abuse (Narendra) Modi.”

There were also reports of a poor turnout at his roadshow. In 2014, Modi had contested and won from Vadodara Lok Sabha constituency too. He had later vacated the seat in favour of Varanasi.

Gujarat, where the BJP has governed for 22 years in a row, goes to polls in December.
