islamabad - The sanitary workers of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday held a protest demonstration against possible outsourcing of the sanitation directorate here at Aabpara chowk.

The CDA has proposed to outsource the Sanitation Services   within the jurisdiction of Capital Development Authority by calling a Tender from the private parties.  This tender was to be opened on 26 October 2017.

The CDA Mazdoor Union and the sanitary workers of Capital Development Authority are opposing the privatization process on grounds that it will render the poor sanitation employees belonging to the minority, jobless.

The workers gathered at Aabpara Chowk to protest against the CDA scheme.

The protest rally was addressed among others by Ch Muhammad Yaseen, General Secretary of the CDA Mazdoor Union who also opposed the privatization process which would cause about 1000 families to suffer.

During the proceedings of the protest, Chief Officer, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) Asad Mehboob Kiani, accompanied with Assistant Commissioner, representatives of Islamabad administration,  assured the  workers that  the tenders to be opened  on 26 October 2017  shall  only be  applicable to the  villages of ICT  and not  disturb the employees of Islamabad. 

Adding that a writ petition is already pending in court against the privatization, the management assured the employees that the Islamabad High Court will decide on the final outcome based on the writ petition.
