SWAT - Amidst continued search and clearance operation in Swat and Malakand division, at least 44 militants surrendered voluntarily and handed over themselves to security forces, while eight others were arrested by Qaumi Lashkar here on Friday. Sources said that Qaumi Lashkar and security forces launched a joint search operation in Koza Bandi, Bara Bandi and tehsil Kabal and apprehended six militants. The Lashkar also recovered two AK-47 riffles and two trucks loaded with edible oil and explosive devices. In another search operation that was led by PPP leader Sher Shah Khan in Koza Bandi, two trucks loaded with school and office furniture were recovered. According to a press released issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 44 terrorists voluntarily surrendered themselves to security forces in Kanju. On information obtained from apprehended terrorists leader Abu Faraj, the security forces conducted a search operation in Mahak near Shadand Banda and recovered four IEDs and a geyser full of explosive devices. Faraj also disclosed that he was regularly getting a salary of Rs 150,000 per month from Fazalullah. Six terrorists voluntarily surrendered themselves to security forces in Sangota, while three others surrendered in Devolai. In Chuprial, four terrorists handed over themselves to the security forces. The security forces also conducted search and clearance operation in Mam Dheri and apprehended four terrorists. In Bajaur, the forces foiled a bid to smuggle arms and ammunition from Afghanistan. The arms and ammunition were being transported from Kunar province via Khagga Pass through four mules when the security forces raided and apprehended one terrorist. The other terrorists managed to escape.
