KARACHI - Violence erupted in Baldia Town area following a road accident, killing a six-year old boy and wounding his father critically at Mohajir Camp, Hub River Road in the limits of Site 'B Section police station. According to the area police, a speedy dumper hit a motorcycle rider Farooq Qureshi, 50, and his son Shayal, 6,, resulting into the death of son while the driver of the dumper escaped the scene. Soon after the incident, the angry people took out to the streets and set the dumper on fire to protest of the innocet boy. They also pelted stones on several other vehicles passing through the area. The angry mob, during its protest against the killing of the young boy, forced the area shopkeepers to close their shops. They burnt the tyres on the main road, besides erecting barricades to block the traffic and closure of the other business activities in the area. According to the eyewitnesses, the enraged people also set ablze the traffic police chowki, besides torching a motorcycle parked in the premises of chowki. They said the angry people beaten the traffic police constables who were present inside the chowki when the incident occurred. The police said that the injured Qureshi is the employee of the ASH and was on the way to market from his house located at Baldia Town No 5 when the accident took place. Later, the heavy contingent of police reached the spot to control the situation, while the angry mob was dispersed. The police said that the victims were residents of Baldia No 5, till filling the news item, the report of the incident was not registered. CRUSHED TO DEATH: Another road mishap claimed a life in the jurisdiction of Korangi Industrial Area police station. The area police told the media representatives that a motorcyclist was crushed to death by an unknown speedy vehicle near Qayum Abad Bridge. The police said that motorcyclist, twenty eight years old Sajjad, son of Muhin was passing through the bridge, suddenly, a speedy vehicle hit it and escaped from the scene, resultently he received critical wounds. The victim was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) where he succumbed to his injuries.
