KARACHI - Cases against President Asif Ali Zardari have been reopened but the court proceedings will be held after the completion of his presidential tenure, said leader of Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Latif Khosa. Senator Khosa in a programme organised by the Peoples Lawyers Forum said that PPP had been struggling for the empowerment of judiciary but judiciary did not support the party. All the cases against the president have been reopened but President has an immunity to appear before the court till the date of his presidency. President Zardari will hold the position till upcoming elections as there is no controversy between the government and judiciary, he added. To a question, he said that possibility of General (r) Pervaiz Musharrafs involvement in the assassination of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto and Akber Bugti would not be ruled out without the trial of the cases. He further said that government made all diplomatic efforts to release Dr Aafia Siddique but US government and the judiciary proved themselves extremely biased on the subject.
