LAHORE - Dacoits on Saturday made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in several successful strikes in different parts of the City, police sources said. Four armed bandits barged into a house situated in the vicinity of Baghbanpura police and fled away after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 0.4 million after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint. Robbers forced their entry into another house in Satu Katla police area, held up the family members at gunpoint and took away cash, gold ornaments worth tens of thousands of rupees. Three armed bandits stormed into a house located in Shahdra police vicinity, collected cash, gold ornaments and cellular phones worth Rs 0.3 million at gunpoint and fled away. Two motorcyclists intercepted family members of one Tariq in Johar Town police area and snatched away cash, cellular phone and gold ornaments worth thousands of rupees at gunpoint. Two armed bandits riding a motorcycle intercepted a housewife in Mustafabad police area. The robbers held her up at gunpoint and fled away after collecting her purse, containing cash and mobile phone. Robbers snatched away a motorcycle from Sanda police area while two gunmen riding a motorcycle intercepted a passerby in Defense police area and escaped after collecting his mobile phone and purse, containing Rs 7,000. Robbers riding motorcycles also deprived two passersby of their cash and mobile phones at gunpoint from Old Anarkali and Gulshan-e-Ravi police areas respectively. Ex-PCS officer Syed Munawar Hussain Shah along with his family was out of his house (No 90-L) in Model Town, the vicinity of Faisal Town police when thieves broke into his residence after Friday midnight. Thieves broke the cupboard and lockers and fled away after collecting cash, gold ornaments and saving certificates worth hundreds of thousands of rupees. The police are investigating with no arrest made so far.
