He called for a just and durable settlement of the dispute in accordance with the will and aspirations of people and in accordance with the relevant resolutions of United Nations Security Council. Prince Turki said Saudi Arabia urges both India and Pakistan to agree to resolving the Kashmir dispute peacefully through dialogue and negotiations and in accordance with the Security Council resolutions as well as the aspirations of Kashmiri people. Prince Turki emphasized that Kashmir dispute is a big concern for the OIC as it is the main source of tension in relations between India and Pakistan. He called upon the Contact Group to continue its good and constructive efforts to find a just and peaceful solution of the dispute. Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan is committed to finding a just and peaceful resolution of the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and wishes and aspiration of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir said the massive demonstrations on Srinagar roads have come to be called a peoples referendum against Indian occupation in Kashmir. Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai emphasized that the unparalleled concentration of over 700,000 Indian military and paramilitary forces in Kashmir is instigating the fury of Kashmiri people. There is a deliberate targeting of our youth with the intent to crush their revolt against military occupation. Dr Fai said that far from seeking to rectify its atrocious human rights record, India has legalized its state-sponsored terrorism in Kashmir. India has given its occupation forces powers to shoot to kill. They have the license to abuse the people of Kashmir in whatever way they like in order to suppress the popular movement for self-determination. These tactics have no military purpose whatsoever. Their only imaginable purpose is to terrorize our people into submission. Dr. Fai called for the release of all political prisoners, including Shabir Ahmed Shah and Mian Abdul Qayyum. He demanded freedom of expression and freedom of movement for all leadership, including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik. Finally, Dr Fai submitted memorandum to the OIC Secretary General on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. -KASHMIR AMERICAN COUNCIL, USA, September 25.
