Removing subsidies to multiply common man's woes: PTI

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) holds the PPP-led government responsible for the multiple economic woes of the common man by removing subsidies on the International Monetary Funds diktat and says that the ruling elite, indifferent to common mans problems, continues to indulge in massive corruption and tax evasion. While talking to the media persons at the partys central secretariat, Imran Khan Chairman of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) said that the government had failed to deliver good governance in the country. He said the country was facing unprecedented flash flood situation but the rulers were busy in merrymaking and adding miseries to common man. Meanwhile, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of PTI conducted a meeting chaired by Imran Khan took certain significant decisions over the fragile economic situation of the country. According to a press release issued on Saturday, CEC of PTI has totally rejected the IMF-dictated economic policies that are causing hyperinflation and denying the right of food, power and education to the mass of Pakistanis. PTI has further blamed the government for breaking the backbone of the common man by removing subsidies on IMF diktat. Similarly, the statement added, the government failed to deliver on all fronts. It must quit and hold midterm elections forthwith under an independent Election Commission. These elections must be transparent. PTI has further demanded new electoral list based on NADRA database at the earliest in order to ensure people were enfranchised and to eliminate bogus votes. According to the release, PTI has categorically asserted that it will not be the part of any unconstitutional or extra-constitutional setup. Further, it has demanded the immediate implementation of the Supreme Courts verdicts, and condemned the defiance of court orders by the present government. However, PTI is prepared to lead a final long march if it finds that efforts are underway to undermine the judiciary and its independence, the statement further said. According to the decisions of CEC, PTI has condemned in the strongest terms the biased US federal courts verdict on Dr Aafia Siddiqui and is planning to launch a nationwide movement for her release if the government is unable to effect the repatriation of Dr Aafia immediately. Furthermore, CEC passed a unanimous resolution strongly condemning Indian human rights violations in the Occupied Kashmir and demanded that the Kashmiris be given their right of self-determination as committed to them under the UNSC Resolutions. PTI has also condemned the drone attacks that have killed thousands of Pakistani civilians. Even more shameful is the complicity of the government of Pakistan and President Zardaris statement that he is not concerned about collateral damage that resulted from these attacks - that is the death of innocent Pakistani citizens, the statement further said adding it was important to mention that CEC of PTI had also decided that it found it a travesty of democracy and justice that the incoming young voters of 18 years were still not being registered as voters - thereby denying them their democratic right to vote. Registration under NADRA should be done at the earliest and the government must facilitate the process. The CEC meeting strongly condemned the target killings in Karachi and Balochistan which continue unabated and which the government has failed to halt. In addition, PTI has demanded that the Overseas Pakistanis should also be given the right to vote.
