200KV micro hydropower station inaugurated in Chitral

CHITRAL  A 200 – KV hydropower house was inaugurated at Bumborat of Kalash Valley here on Tuesday. The power house has been competed by Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) with financial aid of Australian government. Miss Shandana Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Rural Support Program Network (RSPN) was the chief guest while Chief Executive of SRSP Shahzada Masoodul Mulk, Peter Oborne Chief Political commentator of Daily telegraph, London were also present on the occasion.   Addressing on the occasion Masoodul Mulk said that friendly countries donated $20 million grant for construction of this 200KV power house. Peter Oborne thanked Australian government for funding of this project which will bring positive change in lives of the people. Elites of the area also highly hailed efforts of SRSP for construction of power house as in past the area was deprived from light and people of the area were facing numerous problems due to no power supply by Wapda.  They said that this is not only a power house which will provide light to its consumers but it will bring a revolution in this area because people will use electric appliances, computer, internet etc. They said that it will also support for conservation of forest because in past people of the area were using wood for light, heating and cooking purposes.
